COVID-19 Precautions

We care about your health and safety, so please know Lux is frequently and thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Masks are enforced. We clean every piece of equipment we touch and sanitize between all of our clients. Our clients have all agreed to cancel when they have any symptoms whatsoever, are concerned about exposure, or have traveled. Rest assured, we are doing everything in our power to keep you (and us!) healthy.

Pilates is a form of movement that involves strengthing both the awareness and function of often ignored muscles, particularly those that make up the “core.” I have been doing it for more than half my life and it is an important part of my training method. In addition to a tighter midsection, you will improve mobility, stability, balance, breathing mechanics, posture and an understanding of your body that will take your training to the next level. Your back, shoulders, hips, and feet in particular will be so grateful.

I strongly recommend including Pilates into your routine 1-2 per week both for cross training and before returning to lifting after time off from injury, pregnancy, or anything else.

Group mat Pilates classes are offered at 5:30am Tuesdays and Fridays.

I also offer individual sessions that will include the reformer, spine corrector, and various other props. I highly encourage beginners to start here!

Body Tempering

Body Tempering is a soft tissue mobilization technique popularized by Donnie Thompson. It is performed by placing heavily weighted cylinders (I use the Geisha from Kabuki Strength, which weighs 70 pounds but can be loaded up to 250) across muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. As a result, this can help prepare the muscle for activity and improve muscle recovery. It might sound intimidating, but it covers such a large surface area that it mostly feels strangely relaxing.

Benefits include:

  • Pain reduction,
  • Facilitate tissue repair
  • Relieve trigger points
  • Improve circulation
  • Assist in muscle recovery
  • Improve flexibility
  • Enhance proprioception

During our session, I can also show you some techniques you can do on your own if you’re interested.
